Have you ever think of it maybe "God is powerless ?" Although most time when this thought comes into your mind you are compelled to feel guilty by thinking of God in such a way.
But I believe that as Christians there is no problem if we think in such a way sometimes. It shows a curiosity to know. A means of self examination to be sure of what we believe in. There is no problem at all when doubts flows through our minds. The problem is when we do not make enough findings to clear the doubts.
"Is God powerless? "
Maybe that is also a question you have been secretly asking. Or maybe it is a question that the situations around you forces into your mind.
Carefully read this short story and at the end I expect you to bring out some truths from it.
A Pastor was ministering in a remote area where he had to walk some distance before reaching the place where he ministers. The only road that leads to the village is a path through a thick forest.
On a Sunday morning as he prepares for the service, he heard the thunder rumble and the clouds suddenly became heavy as if it was about to rain. He believed it was the work of the idol worshipers in the village. Because it was in the middle of a dry season and the rain was not suppose to fall at this time. The day was to be a powerful service which promises deliverance and salvation of souls. So he has no doubt but to believe that the wicked villagers were the masterminds.
He knelt down and said a few words of prayer and he was rest assured that the rain is not going to fall. But to his greatest dismay, right in the middle of the forest, the rain poured out heavily. The man was drenched by the rain. His legs were heavy as he dragged them across the thicks of the forest as he managed to get to the church.
He was highly disappointed in God, the same question also came into his mind. "Is God powerless? "
The service that day didn't go as planned. Coldness was stretched across the entire span of the service.
Back at home he was so much disturbed about this that he could not even do any thing.
It was later in the evening that same day that some men came rushing to his house. " We believe your God," that was the only word they kept on saying. They were lying ambush, waiting for the preacher in the forest so that they could gun him down. But all of a sudden the rain came down from nowhere. The gun powder they were suppose to use became wet and unusable. Their plans because futile and they had no choice but to believe in the power of God.
It saddens the heart of the minister because he had doubted the power of God.
Do you also doubt the power of God? Do you also feel that God is powerless? Do you still secretly ask the question "Is God powerless? "
God does not always work in ways you can tell. His ways are mysterious and beyond human comprehension. His ways are powerful beyond explanations.
Before you think of it that " is God powerful? " I will like you to consider this story and know that sometimes that it seem as if God is not answering our prayers it is because he has answered it in another way but you fail to realize.
